The Founder Behind CRX

As the Founder and CEO of Cryonix Esports, I am still very hands-on with the organisation. I am involved in where CRX is going, how the teams are developing, what competitions we take part in and what we should be working towards next.

I have never really wanted to be the kind of founder who sits somewhere above everyone else and only hears about what is happening afterwards. I like knowing the players, understanding what the teams are working on and being involved while Cryonix grows.

That does not mean I am going to have the answer to everything either. CRX is still young, and I am learning while I build it. Sometimes something works. Sometimes it absolutely does not. When that happens, we change it, learn from it and try again.

A lot of my role involves balancing what the organisation needs with what the players need. I can make decisions about rosters, competitions, scrims and the direction of CRX, but I also want the players to have a voice in the teams they are actually playing in.

They are the ones learning each other's habits, figuring out their communication and building chemistry together during matches. I think that matters when decisions are being made about how a team should move forward.

For me, being Founder and CEO is not really about having the title. It is about being responsible for something I genuinely care about and doing what I can to help Cryonix become better than it was yesterday.

Founder, CEO & Player

Running Cryonix does not mean I stopped enjoying Valorant or playing alongside the people I am building it with.

I still play Valorant casually too. Not every game has to be a scrim, tournament or something connected to Cryonix. Sometimes I just want to queue with friends, play the game and have fun without every match needing to mean something.

I think that is important for me personally as well. Valorant is competitive by nature, but it is still a game I enjoy. I never want running an esports organisation to take away the part where I can just play because I feel like playing.

When the teams do need me, though, I am still happy to step in. If a Cryonix roster is missing somebody, I can fill depending on what role the team needs.

I mainly play Controller, Initiator and Sentinel. My agent pool includes Miks, Viper, Skye, Sage, Deadlock and Cypher, so I can usually work around the composition the team already wants to play instead of forcing everyone else to change.

I am not there to take a permanent position away from somebody on a roster. The point of me filling is to help when somebody cannot play and give the team another option when they need one.

I genuinely enjoy getting to play competitively with the teams too. There is a big difference between looking at a result afterwards and actually being in the game with everyone while everything is happening.

When I am playing with them, I hear the comms, feel the pressure and see how everyone reacts when a round starts going wrong. I also get to notice the smaller things that do not show up on a scoreboard, like somebody calming everyone down, changing the way they communicate or adjusting around another teammate.

Playing both casually and competitively keeps me connected to Valorant itself. It also gives me a much better understanding of what the players are actually experiencing instead of only seeing Cryonix from the organisational side.

Role Within Cryonix

I wear quite a few hats in CRX right now. Some of that will eventually be shared with managers, coaches and other staff as the organisation grows.

01

Organisation Direction

Deciding where Cryonix is heading, what we want the organisation to represent and what we should be working towards next.

02

Competitive Development

Supporting Cryonix's rosters as they develop, looking at where the teams are improving and helping decide the competitive direction of CRX.

03

Competitive Fill

Filling for Cryonix rosters when they need somebody across Controller, Initiator or Sentinel.

04

Player Development

Giving players somewhere they can learn, gain experience, improve their teamwork and challenge themselves against stronger competition.

05

Organisation Growth

Building CRX beyond what it is today through stronger rosters, management, coaching, partnerships and new opportunities.

06

CRX Identity

Making sure we can become more competitive without losing the kind of environment I wanted Cryonix to have in the first place.

Competitive Without Losing the People

I care about Cryonix being competitive, but I care just as much about what it actually feels like to be part of the organisation.

Being a woman in gaming has meant having matches where the atmosphere changed the second I spoke. I have dealt with comments, toxicity and people deciding what they thought of me before I had really done anything.

Experiences like that definitely influenced what I wanted CRX to be. I do not want people joining Cryonix just to find the exact same kind of environment they were trying to get away from.

I still want players who care about improving. I want people who communicate, learn their roles, listen to feedback and genuinely want to become better players. Being supportive does not mean nobody gets held accountable.

But we also need to remember that every single one of us started somewhere.

None of us hopped into our first ranked game and instantly got placed in high elo. Nobody started Valorant already knowing every callout, every rotation, every agent interaction or exactly what to do in every situation.

We learned.

We lost games. We made terrible decisions. We whiffed shots we probably should have hit. We messed up utility. We misunderstood calls. We had games where absolutely nothing seemed to work.

And then, slowly, we got better.

I think it is really easy to forget that once something becomes normal for you. Something you do without thinking might still be something another player is trying to learn for the first time.

That is why there is a difference between telling a teammate what went wrong and making them feel stupid for getting it wrong.

Good feedback should leave somebody knowing what they can do differently next time. It should not leave them scared to make another decision.

I want people inside CRX to be comfortable saying, "I don't know how to do this yet."

The important word there is yet.

Maybe a few months later, that same thing becomes something they do automatically. Maybe eventually they are the person helping somebody else understand it.

That is the kind of improvement I want Cryonix to encourage.

We can take competition seriously without forgetting that there are real people behind the usernames. Cryonix should be somewhere people can push themselves, make mistakes, improve and still feel like the teammates beside them actually want them to succeed.

Still Building

Cryonix is still young, and I actually think there is something exciting about that. There is still so much room for us to figure out what CRX can become.

Right now, I want to keep strengthening the foundation we already have. Zenith should continue pushing the competitive standard of the organisation, Nova should continue giving players space to gain experience and develop, and Nexus now adds another competitive environment with its own identity and direction within Cryonix.

I also know I cannot and should not try to do everything forever.

As CRX grows, I want proper management and coaching structures around the teams. I want managers who can support the players, coaches who can help the rosters improve and eventually more people helping with the organisation itself.

That means Cryonix can grow without everything depending on one person trying to be everywhere at the same time.

I want us to keep becoming more involved in the South African Valorant scene as well. More scrims, more leagues, more tournaments and more opportunities to play against teams that push us outside our comfort zone.

Long term, I would love for Cryonix to become a name that people recognise.

Not just because they have seen the logo somewhere, but because they know what CRX is about.

I want somebody looking for a team one day to see Cryonix and think, "I would actually like to play there."

I want the players who already represent CRX to be proud that our name is next to theirs.

And however much Cryonix eventually grows, I still want to stay involved with the people inside it. I might not always be the person organising every scrim or filling every gap, but I never want CRX to become something I only watch from a distance.

CRX // AZURACRPTX
Built to Improve. Ready to Compete.

Cryonix is still at the beginning of its story.

There are going to be difficult matches. There will probably be roster changes, mistakes, ideas that do not work and moments where I have to admit that something I thought was a good idea really was not.

And I am okay with that.

I do not think being the Founder and CEO means I suddenly have to pretend I know everything. I would rather ask questions, learn and change something when it needs changing than act like CRX has everything figured out already.

Our motto is "Built to Improve. Ready to Compete." and I think that applies to the organisation just as much as it applies to the players.

We are supposed to improve too.

What matters to me is that Cryonix keeps moving forward. That the teams get stronger. That the players can look at themselves a few months from now and realise they have improved. And that every stage CRX reaches gives us something new to work towards.

Cryonix started as something I wanted to build, but it is not only mine anymore.

Every player who puts CRX in their name, every teammate who shows up for practice, every person who competes with us and eventually every manager, coach and staff member who helps this organisation grow becomes part of what Cryonix is.

That matters to me.

If somebody can eventually look back at their time here and say they became a better player, gained experience they did not have before, met people they genuinely enjoyed playing with or got a little closer to whatever they wanted from esports, then I think we built something worthwhile.

We all started somewhere.

CRX did too.

We are still building, still learning and still figuring out how far we can take it.

And sometimes I am still just going to queue Valorant because I feel like playing Valorant.

Then, if one of the teams happens to be missing someone, there is also a pretty good chance I will end up loading into the next game with them.
